Reel One Entertainment, which produced “Wedding Planner Mystery,” recently unveiled this trailer. Cool!
Good news! The Hallmark movie’s in the New York Times. Not such good news! They don’t look upon it any too favorably.
Now I’ll admit, they have a point about the chirpy perkiness and the perky chirpiness. But better that than the criticism leveled at the other movie mentioned. “Humorless gore”? Bleahh.
Anyway, all publicity is good publicity, right?
Want to know more about how Veiled Threats became Hallmark’s “Wedding Planner Mystery”? (From my point of view, that is.)
Then on Thursday 9/25 – but not before – head on over to the wonderful mystery blog Femmes Fatales to read my guest post!
Many thanks to my dear friend Marcia Talley for inviting me to tell my tale…
In the run-up to Hallmark’s “Wedding Planner Mystery,” Goodreads is giving away 10 copies of Veiled Threats, the book it was based on. Entries are being accepted until October 12. Give it a try – for your own copy, or a gift for a friend – and good luck!
Yes, we have a broadcast date. Hallmark’s “Wedding Planner Mystery” — based on my first mystery, Veiled Threats — will air on Sunday October 19 at 9 pm Eastern & Pacific Time, 8 pm Central, 7 pm Mountain Time. But as they say, check your local listings to be sure.
The switch from summer to fall makes sense. Beginning in October, the Hallmark Movie Channel becomes “Hallmark Movies & Mysteries,” kicking off with a month full of mysterious shows. What cozier way to spend an autumn evening?
So on October 19, the pleasure of your company is requested at Hallmark’s “Wedding Planner Mystery,” starring Erica Durance of Smallville and Brandom Beemer of The Bold and the Beautiful.
Guess what? I’ve already seen the movie, and it’s delightful! Not a movie of my book — you can’t fit 324 pages into 90 minutes, after all — but a Hallmark creation based on my book. So expect some changes, but also some romance and suspense and just plain fun.
Enjoy!
As the saying goes, enormous changes at the (almost) last minute…
I just heard that the TV movie won’t be airing until sometime in October. I’ll let you know when I have an exact date.
I’m disappointed at the delay, of course, but it’s for a good reason. On October 1st the Hallmark Movie Channel will be rebranded as Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, so “Wedding Planner Mystery” lines up nicely with that.
Props to Hallmark for keeping in touch, by the way. One of their publicity people called me today about the changing air date, because she knew I’d posted and emailed about the old one. Thanks, Hallmark!
Exciting news: Veiled Threats has been made into an original TV movie. It premieres Saturday August 16 on the Hallmark Channel, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
Just think of it: from my imagination, to the printed page, to a producer choosing the story and a screenwriter concocting the script and actors getting in character and presto! A movie.
Hallmark’s “Wedding Planner Mystery” was filmed in Vancouver, BC, standing in for Seattle. Erica Durance of Smallville plays amateur sleuth Carnegie Kincaid, Andrew W. Walker is irritating-but-intriguing Aaron Gold, and Brandon Beemer of The Bold and the Beautiful makes a smoldering Holt Walker.
At least he smolders in the publicity photos – I haven’t seen the movie yet, so I’m as curious as you are. (The only thing I know for sure: my 11-year-old nephew will be disappointed, since he was hoping his author aunt would play the lead.)
I hope you’ll tune in to the movie, and leave your comments in my Guest Book. This should be fun! Pass the popcorn…
PS: I’ve been too busy for interviews lately, but these are still on view: an essay by Roberta Isleib on MysteryFile.com, an article in the Idaho Mountain Express in Sun Valley, andan interviews at book-blog. Life is calmer now, so if you’d like an interview for your website or newsletter, just send me an email!
